Camping Setup Checklist
Going on a camping trip soon? Here’s a guide on what to prepare for your outdoor setup.
Shelter
Tent: The tent serves as the home base for camping and outdoor trips. This outdoor essential comes in many different shapes and sizes. From your typical A-frame types to those that you can mount to the roof of your car, you’ll surely find a tent that perfectly meets your requirements.
Sleeping Bag/Air Bed: Sleeping bags are portable padded and lined bags suited for outdoor or camp use. They keep you warm through the night and offer ample support for your body as you sleep close to the ground. Air beds, on the other hand, are your more elevated options that offer extra support, portability, and ease of use.
Pillows & Blankets: Bringing your own pillows and blankets ensure extra comfort during your resting time. Extra blankets also offer additional cushioning underneath a sleeping bag and help in preventing it from slipping around the tent.
Camping Lights: Most camp sites are situated in remote locations without proper light source, so it’s always recommended to bring your own camping lantern. These camp lights are typically lightweight and portable, so they can also be used for nighttime walks and hikes. If you need hands-free lights for your stroll, you can always opt for high-lumen headlamps.
Cooking & Dining
Camping Grill: An outdoor grill is a camping staple that comes in many forms and sizes. Classic camping grills allow you to enjoy juicy and delicious camping favorites like burgers, fish, campfire popcorn, and more. If you want to save yourself from the hassle of having to clean up the grids, you can always go for a flat top griddle for your next trip.
Firewood, Lighter, Matches: These camping essentials offer a wide array of benefits for every camping trip. They offer warmth for colder nights, heat for cooking, and also serve as an additional light source for your setup.
Camping Stove: A good portable camping stove enables you to cook over instant controlled heat. Instead of having to set up firewood and starters on your site, you can simply fire up a stove and start your cooking.
Cool Box: Coolers are reliable food & beverage storage equipment that you’ll want to bring on your next camping trip. Not only would these cool boxes keep your food items fresh, but they will also provide protection against pests and camping dust & debris.
Table & Chair: A sturdy camping table & chair set offers exceptional convenience. It allows you to comfortably eat, enjoy sites, and rest throughout the entire duration of your trip. Moreover, tables & chairs also provide extra storage space for your valuables and other camping gear.
Cutlery: Camping utensils are reliable, lightweight, and reusable tools that you should invest on for your upcoming trip. Unlike disposable or heavier metal options used at home, specialized cutlery are more handy and economical.
Organization & Hygiene
Storage: Camping storage boxes and cabinets allow you to keep your camping setup neat and orderly. They prevent clutter and allow you to easily reach for whatever you need. Smaller travel cubes are more compact options that you can stow on your backpacks and lay out inside your tent once you’ve set up camp.
Trash Bags: Having a few garbage bags on hand ensure that you will leave the camp site clean. They are also useful in storing valuables and gear that you want to keep dry. They also work as a poncho in a pinch, so make sure to keep one or two in your backpack.
Emergencies
First Aid Kit: Stock up on wraps & accessories such as assorted band aids, gauze pads, adhesive tapes, safety pins, antiseptic wipes, and small scissors for small superficial injuries. If you plan to add disinfectants, medication, and painkillers to your emergency kit, make sure to check on the expiry dates so you can do proper refills when needed.
Tent Repair Kit: A well-stocked tent patch kit will save you the headache of having to deal with a damaged tent. A repair kit typically includes cuts of waterproof materials, a screen patch, adhesives, a sewing needle, and threads.
